A handwritten memo,
That's all that was left.
I scrutinized it for being the last piece of him.
Now the silence is chilling.
A handwritten memo,
One page describing why.
It was tri-colored,
White paper, blue ink, and a red stamp.
He will be back.
I believe it.
One short footnote says
"I love you, and I promise to come home again"
Off to war he goes,
I don't have to worry.
I got the handwritten memo.
